It is not quite as accurate as my ROA but it is lighter weight and easier to manage, while still being a good quality revolver. I bought it via mail order from Cabella's about 30 years ago for $90. chamber pressure is inversely proportional to velocity so a faster burning powder will produce a lower velocity at a higher chamber pressure versus a higher velocity at a lower chamber pressure for slower burning powder. Avoid fast burning powders like Bullseye, Tightgroup, or 231.Īn important issue with all powders. Your main concern is chamber pressure, not velocity so use a medium burn rate powder like Unique, Universal, or Power Pistol. 7.5gr of Unique is light enough where you won't see any signs of over pressure, yet it is pretty accurate. 8gr of Unique produces just under 1400 psi chamber pressure 750 fps from a 7 1/2' barrel. With the conversion cylinder, I use 7.5gr of Unique with a 255gr soft lead. I have basically the same 1858 Rem (made by ASM in Italy).
